Experience. We have experience developing plug-ins for Digidesign Pro Tools and VST, including

A recent example: since the release of Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), a lot of Digidesign Pro Tools developers have encountered difficulties with RTAS performance with their plug-ins under Leopard. Apple made significant changes to their thread-scheduling model in 10.5 and the developers who did not follow the multi-threaded programming practices tailored specifically for Pro Tools architecture were left with poorly performing plug-ins. Unfortunately, multi-threading design mistakes are impossible to address quickly, and a major rewrite of the code is usually required. Mercury is proud to announce that none of its customers had performance issues after migrating to Leopard.
