We have been developing custom applications for Mac OS® operating system, professionally, since 1999. Our experience with operating systems includes Mac programming on all flavors of OS 9 and OS X (including Jaguar, Panther, Tiger, Leopard), and Macintosh hardware from G3, G4, G5 to Intel. We are especially good at developing dual-platform custom Mac and Windows applications and porting Windows applications to the Mac platform and back.
Premier Apple Developer Connection Membership
Mercury is a Premier member of Apple Developer Connection (ADC). This elite level of partnership provides our Mac developers with full access to Apple developer support, software and hardware. Mercury is committed to maintaining our Apple perspective by attending Apple Worldwide Developers Conference. Send us an email to meet us at WWDC2008 on June 9-13, 2008 in San Francisco.
Mac OS X Experience
- Desktop applications: stand-alone and client-server applications, Carbon- and Cocoa-based, with custom user interfaces, with AppleScript, featuring database connectivity using MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, as well as enterprise-level databases, Automator workflows, custom automatic update solutions and the system-wide notifications, custom methods for the software copy protection, Preference Panes development;
- Advanced multimedia solutions for professional audio and video: audio and video acquisition and playback, development of the plug-ins for the Mac OS X audio processing applications, QuickTime components, custom DRM solutions, QuickTime and HTTP streaming of the audio data, MP4 container low-level processing, AAF processing, Quartz-based solutions, OpenGL-based WYSIWYG graphical editors, use of the libfaac (open source AAC encoder) and SDL (Simple DirectMedia Player), CoreAudio-based solutions, AudioUnits;
- Cross-platform applications: for Mac OS X, Windows, Windows Mobile, Linux, from the kernel level to GUI;
- Rapid migration of existing applications to OS X Leopard: from other platforms (Windows, Linux) or Mac OS 9 to Mac OS X and from PowerPC to Intel platform;
- Native iPhone applications: using unofficial and official SDK from Apple;
- iPhone web applications: do not require iPhone SDK and can be easily distributed over the Web;
- Mobile solutions: advanced data exchange and synchronization between mobile devices and Mac OS X Desktop;
- Web-based solutions: dashboard widget development for Mac OS X Leopard, general webkit-based development, plug-ins to the web-browsers;
- Security solutions: implementation of various encryption algorithms, development of integrated solutions restricting user interaction with the computer and the network, encrypted communications over SSL;
- Extending the functionality of the existing Cocoa-based Mac OS X applications: with and without access to their source code;
- Networking solutions: TCP-based, UDP-based network communication including development of custom streaming protocols for high-performance multimedia data streaming, HTTP communication including development of distributed web-service-based solutions, FTP communication, DNS communication, iSCSI protocol implementation, zero-configuration protocols including SLP, Bonjour, firewall appliances, IM protocol implementations, OpenTransport framework;
- Device driver development: to operate custom and third party Macintosh hardware or to achieve specialized low-level system functionality;
- System programming: low-level programming including assembly, performance optimization, SIMD-specific optimization for PowerPC and Intel CPUs, communication with the USB and FireWire devices.
