Discovery
The customer’s vision of the future app can vary from a nebulous concept to an elaborate specification. Therefore, at the very start of each project, we undertake an intensive research period — a rapid and free Discovery Phase.
Introduction
Discovery is the first stage of any digital project. The main goal of the Discovery Stage is to clarify the general idea and project scope for the desired solution along with the project priorities and constraints. Typically, at the end of the stage, our team provides the Customer with preliminary cost estimates for the project. Then the scope can be adjusted to fit in the target budget.
Goals & Benefits
Define current state
We review the Customer’s assets and prerequisites, learn about the requirements and restrictions.
Set project goals
We find out what the Customer’s needs and goals are together with the aim of the solution.
Formalize requirements
Based on the current and desired states of the project, we regularize what the scope of the project is.
Create a roadmap
We define a general implementation approach along with the technical environment, stack, and target.
Highlight roadblocks
Within the roadmap, we outline all blocks that could hit and derail the project later on.
Handle Updates
We are always ready to amend the roadmap according to the customer’s business updates if necessary.

01. Idea
Confirm the core idea and the project scope.
02. Materiality
Elicit the key workflows.
03. Creation
Create a set of storyboards to represent the workflows.
04. Requirements
Update and elaborate the storyboards based on the Customer requirements.
05. Demonstration
Prepare a set of wireframes for all main storyboards.
06. Updating
Reiterate the wireframes based on Customer feedback.
07. Finish
Prepare a set of UI compilations in .png format.
Design
Design research is a crucial part of any discovery phase. We detect which factors might influence the conversion: weak branding, complicated interfaces of the application or web-service, lack of interface responsiveness, non-intuitive workflow.
Almost every project requires involvement of the Design Department which is represented by 15 highly competent experts including lead UI/UX designers, graphic designers, digital artists, motion graphics gurus, specialists in 3D modeling and visualization.

Outcome
Wireframes
Mercury’s analysts will work closely with the customer to shape the UI and elaborate the key workflows of the future app. As a result, we will develop up to 25 low-fidelity solution wireframes to illustrate the core functionality of the application.
Estimates
In course of the Discovery Stage, Mercury obtains a much better understanding of the application and its scope, which allows our team to make an estimate of the project costs.
Documentation
All tech analysis performed as well as non-functional requirements and UI decisions are confirmed with the development and QA teams and formalized in the project documentation.
UI kit
Mercury Development will provide a complete design set which contains the app screens in .png format and an interactive clickable prototype. Source files in .sketch format may be delivered on the customer’s request.
